Allow me to start out by saying that I believe that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from dealing with a program. My family was not aware of the Counter-dependency available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the right choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Finding the root cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, once the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like a lot of addicts I began out smoking pot and progressed after that until I was doing my drug of preference daily at the fee for everything and everyone around me. I lost valuable time with my oldest daughter and several years of a meaningful relationship with our kids. Throughout your addiction you don’t really have friends, you have your partying buddies and once a crisis arises in your lifetime they may be no where available. Real friends walk with you through everything. My addiction included alcohol as well as drugs and I drank almost everyday. From the time I made the choice to prevent the addiction cycle in my life, it became one step at the same time and it was hard.
When I began emerging from my addictive lifestyle what I seen in its wake was plenty of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships without any real idea the things i was going to do along with the rest of my entire life. I truly began a stride at any given time then one day at the same time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and through that grieving process is when I picked to allow God into help me. It took several years but healing came, direction for my well being came and my marriage flourished. I completed High School, graduated from College and also have started my own, personal business, which now features a business that allows me to work from home by way of a blogging platform.
Addiction Recovery Is Achievable. After the real cause of the addiction is identified and worked through after that your major reason for the addiction is not an aspect. For many who remain addicts throughout their lives it is because they may have not identified their real cause, are not ready to work through their issues and allow healing to happen. Many wish to remain a victim of their circumstance, not realizing what the future would hold on their behalf when they would rid yourself of their victim mentality. Creating a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is actually through that relationship that true healing took place.
My need for drugs and alcohol is totally gone. Through building a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and that i discovered a sense of purpose for my life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to turn into a better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has developed into a business proprietor). My way to recovery might have taken a much different route whenever we had known regarding the programs around to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just to the addicts but to there families also.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a treatment program for addiction recovery would have been a fantastic benefit to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools that can be used throughout your daily life for several situations that you will face. Programs offer you the ability to escape your familiar surroundings which aides within your process of healing. After a long period of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge that is a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First as a Development Director and then being a Program Director. While this is an excellent program there were some additional steps that I wished to offer those seeking help, so my hubby and that i opened our personal recovery program and for a long time we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived around for approximately annually and we worked with them step by step, it was one of the most rewarding experience I have ever had within my life.
We closed this program because we knew it was time to maneuver in a different direction with this lives, but our company is always contacting those searching for help themselves or a member of family trying to find help for just one which they love. I am getting ready to start doing some volunteer employ a program within our area. Trying to help addicts overcome their addiction is extremely rewarding work which is something which I will be a part of throughout my entire life in one way or another. If you or someone inside your family members are struggling with addiction, research recovery programs and you may find the right fit for you. Allow yourselves to heal, allow yourself addiction recovery and to lead a fulfilling life.
