We will hear and say ‘Happy New Year’ so often at the moment of year – but rarely do we think about what it really means to us, as well as the individuals to whom we say it.
Many of us are unique individuals with our very own unique needs and desires; and many of us are united inside our quest for the same thing – to feel Happy New Year 2020 Quotes. We are all striving with this state of ‘happiness’; but so many people are looking inside the wrong location for it – and settling for a temporary mood-enhancer in the form of alcohol, drugs, a new relationship, or new possessions.
Magazines are packed with ‘New Year New You’ advice from so-called experts – almost all of which can be just plain good sense! No one is definitely the expert on you! Only you know – or are attempting to pin-down – what brings you personal happiness. One person’s happiness is another person’s burden.
If you now take into consideration what actually brings people happiness it might range from finding shelter and food; to having a make-over/fake-tan/fake-nails etc., buying new ‘toys/gadgets’, right through to showing love, care and compassion to others. As broad a spectrum as is observed in general society.
Happiness to suit your needs will be based upon your very own level of personal and spiritual awareness, as well as your capacity to create happiness being a state of mind that you simply can go back to at will – despite life’s relentless disappointments and challenges.
It is far from enough to merely ‘think’ or ‘imagine’ yourself to be happy – you can’t fool yourself that easily!
What the majority of us don’t realise is the fact that we have two mind-sets about everything in life, and these two minds can be at odds with each other. This conflict can include the amounts of happiness we have been ‘allowed’ to discover.
Our conscious/rational/observing mind can desire and seek greater happiness; but if our sub-conscious mind doesn’t think that we deserve it, or we would benefit from it – this just isn’t planning to come our way. Our outer lives are just ever a reflection of our own inner and deeper sub-conscious belief system. Self-help books and talking therapies usually do not access or change these deeper ‘Script’ beliefs.
Being around happy, optimistic, warm and friendly people positively affects us too – as does the exact opposite. This is called ‘Emotional Contagion’ – which is worth reflecting upon what ‘mood’ or ‘energy’ we ourselves give out that subsequently affects those around us.
We have now neurons within our brains called Mirror Neurons which can create in us the emotion we are witnessing outside of us. As an example if we see someone stub their toe or trap their finger, we have been instinctively programmed to feel something similar. This connection goes past mere ’empathy’, or of recalling personal memories of comparable things having happened to us previously. We have been significantly affected by being around Merry Christmas 2019 Messages, whose emotions we then ‘mirror’ in ourselves.
Don’t however be fooled by way of a ‘happy mask’ that someone may be wearing; which is a false-self they present to everyone being an try to hide their real feelings and requires. This may well have been set up in childhood when it was encouraged and expected which they ‘put-on-a-happy face’ for your family’s sake; as well as stuff down their real feelings like anger, resentment, disappointment, fear, sadness and despair – which had been real, but ‘unacceptable’ by the family/care-giver.
Many people are so used to wearing a mask they cannot imagine an existence without this, or how to take it off! Their eyes will often provide the game away concerning their underlying feelings, as will an unguarded moment and comment, if someone else is sensitive enough to notice these ‘slips’.
Everyone has a ‘base-line’ amount of happiness at any stage within our lives – which can be formed from the past experiences and the meaning we gave to them; not to mention the results these have gotten upon our sub-conscious mind and also the ‘program’ we have been running.
This base-line represents only 40% from the full quantity of happiness we are capable of experiencing at the present time. A further 10% can come from the external ‘lucky’ events like the lottery win; or even a big new purchase; or kkywim cosmetic surgery etc. These ‘highs’ are unfortunately only temporary and we soon come back to our base level once more.
The very good news though is that the remaining 40% of happiness available to you – hails from YOU! This is scientifically validated and forms a central part of Positive Psychology.
